This year marks the first time I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! hasn’t featured both Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly presenting, after the former stepped away from his presenting commitments to aid his recovery after being involved in a drink driving incident.
Holly Willoughby has stepped in to host alongside Dec, but there have rumours spreading that Ant has been secretly working on the scripts for the show following a tweet from ITV News’ Emma Jesson tweeted.
“I am informed that Ant was consulted for scripted Holly & Dec links for @imacelebrity series 2018 #imacelebrity #ImACeleb@Ant_McPartlin @antanddec … top move production team if this is the case, can see his hallmarks there,” she wrote.
That isn’t the case, however. Representatives from ITV have confirmed to Digital Spy that Ant is not involved with this year’s show at all.
Ant confirmed that he’d be taking the rest of the year off to help his recovery back in August, sharing a statement that read: “Having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off.
“I’d like to thank both Dec and ITV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year.”
Meanwhile, the show caused a huge upset last night (November 30) when seemingly fan-favourite Noel Edmonds was the first campmate to be evicted from the jungle. Viewers raged and called it a ‘fix’, seemingly unaware that when the hosts say ‘you need to vote to save your favourites’, you actually have to do that.
Others did find it amusing that he was the most-paid campmate EVER, and was a late entry to the show as well.
I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues on Saturday (December 1), following the first final of The X Factor, at 9.30pm on ITV. Don’t forget that I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp follows each episode over on ITV2.
