GADGET fans are desperately awaiting the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 – but this key iPhone rival remains a closely guarded secret for now.
To help ease the wait, The Sun has rounded up all the latest Galaxy Note 10 rumours, leaks and news – including expert predictions on release date, price and more.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 news – what is it?
Samsung’s Galaxy Note series is the company’s true “flagship” range of smartphones, with the top features.
Or at least it was, until this year’s foldable Galaxy Fold replaced it as the bleeding edge of Samsung smartphone design.
Still, the Note series offers pricier gadgets for customers who want more features than you’ll get from a Samsung Galaxy S10.
The Galaxy Note 10 is the next rumoured entry to the line-up, but is still largely a mystery outside of Samsung HQ.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 release date – when is it out?
Samsung typically sticks to a firm schedule when it comes to smartphone releases – the Galaxy Note series included.
Here’s a quick look back at historical Galaxy Note launch dates:
- Galaxy Note 2 – August 29 reveal – September 26 release
- Galaxy Note 3 – September 4 reveal / September 25 release
- Galaxy Note 4 – August 13 reveal / October 17 release
- Galaxy Note 5 – August 13 reveal / August 21 release
- Galaxy Note 6 – N/A
- Galaxy Note 7 – August 2 reveal / August 19 release
- Galaxy Note 8 – August 23 reveal / September 15 release
- Galaxy Note 9 – August 9 reveal / August 24 release
It’s quickly clear that Samsung tends to announce new Galaxy Note phones in August.
And after launch, the models are generally released for sale quickly – usually within a week or two.
We spoke to Ben Wood, a top industry expert, who said this is unlikely to change for 2019.
“There is little reason why Samsung would change its usual launch cycle of S-series devices in Feb / March and a Note device in August / September,” said Ben, an analyst at CCS Insight, speaking to The Sun.
“We would expect to see an updated Note device around that time.”
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 design, specs and features – what’s new?
Samsung is staying mum about what we can expect from its next smartphone.
However, we’ve heard plenty of rumours about possible upgrades or features that may be added to the new model.
“Samsung has a tried and tested formula for its Note devices,” Ben told us.
“It typically offers a smart stylus, large display and business features.
“We would expect it to follow a similar formula this year, with incremental improvements to the device such as more memory, a better camera and a bigger screen.”
It’s also possible that Samsung might upgrade its new smartphone with a modem that can support 5G connections.
That means it would be able to take advantage of the super-fast 5G network speeds we’re expecting to start rolling out in the UK in 2019.
Samsung has already announced a 5G version of the recently launched Galaxy S10, as well as the upcoming Galaxy Fold smartphone.
And the Galaxy Note 10 may follow suit.
“It is highly likely Samsung will offer a 5G variant of the next Note device but we would still expect there to be a 4G device as well,” Ben explained.
“This would be a similar approach to the one Samsung adopted with the Galaxy S10.”
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 price – how much will it cost?
What’s perhaps hardest to predict is exact pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
Smartphone prices can vary wildly from year to year, and are affected by foreign exchange rates, competitors, and many other factors.
But what’s certain is that the Galaxy Note 10 won’t be cheap: it’ll be one of Samsung’s top smartphones with class-leading features that will cost you a premium.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 started at £899 last year, so expect similarly lofty pricing from the Galaxy Note 10 in 2019.
