FRANK WARREN has bluntly revealed Eddie Hearn needs a good slapping, after claiming Tyson Fury has overtaken Anthony Joshua as the “People’s Champ”.
The boxing promoter lauded the Gypsy King for his intelligence during his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder earlier this month.
But Warren couldn’t hold back his feelings of frustration for Hearn – for his “fake news” approach.
The 66-year-old told The Times: “I’ve never spoken to Eddie Hearn in my life… but he annoyed me.
“He said the fight between Wilder and Fury would never happen; he said we had only sold 8,000 seats; he said it would be a boring fight.
“Wrong on all counts. Fake news. People need to hear this, and on the record.
“It’s Eddie Hearn’s father, Barry Hearn, who runs that business. The kid just goes off talking rubbish.
“He has an ego which is awful. If he was my kid, I’d slap him down.”
Warren went on to say there can be no doubting Fury the people’s No1 and all scrutiny will now be shifted on to AJ’s shoulders.
He added: “Tyson is No1 now, end of story. It’s all changed. Joshua is under scrutiny now.
“The public won’t accept poor matches. He has become a corporate animal.
“Fury is the man of the people. He’s a boxing genius.”
Warren went on to laud Fury’s intelligence during his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder earlier this month.
He added: “I saw his eyes roll into his head. I thought it was over. He told me he was lying there, quite conscious, but couldn’t feel his legs.
“He didn’t want to get up because his legs would have been so unsteady the referee would have stopped the fight.
“That is how smart he is. He waited as long as he could, watching the referee count with the fingers of two hands, just beat the count and was up and ready.”
